Unfortunately the 'and that's why we need a written constitution, like America' camp is currently taking a hell of a beating. Turns out without 'good chaps' (& strong non-partisan institutions) a written constitution isn't worth the paper it's written on

ONS obviouslly very much a trailing indictator here but speaking as a former reporter on a provincial evening daily newpaper, the loss of ad revenue for local papers/media has had a major impact on the health of our democracies and communities

It is real progress to see a sporting body immediately recognise when they get something like this wrong, to be humble enough to admit it is embarrassing & to put things right without apparent fuss or moaning or expecting extra credit

The context is important here - girls are much less likely to participate in organised sport as they get older and part of the reason unfortunately is deeply ingrained sexist assumptions, practices & attitudes that we are still fighting to shift
