A thing that economists know, but will never plainly say out loud, is that inflation mostly happens when too many poor people have enough money to buy what they need.

Poverty is an counterinflationary tool.
".. During a radio interview Saturday .., Bessent said 'tariffs can’t be inflationary because if the price of one thing goes up -- unless you give people more money -- then they have less money to spend on the other thing, so there is no inflation.'"

Just a reminder that when someone is attacking journalism, it’s usually because they’re the bad guy and they have a lot of secrets they don’t want journalismed.
President-elect Donald Trump likely killed a bill limiting federal law enforcement surveillance of journalists and the government’s ability to force disclosure of journalists’ sources.

It passed the House with broad bipartisan support earlier this year, but is stalled in the Senate. #moleg #mogov

President-elect Trump and his allies disavowed the conservative Project 2025 during the election.

Now, his transition team is turning to Project 2025 to help staff the next administration, sources tell @nbcnews.com.

A Trump supporting, anti-trans, anti-gay Republican was elected commissioner of the county where I grew up. He won despite being in jail on election night for a sexual assault in Vegas.

It’s now come out that the woman he assaulted was his daughter.

No one thinks McBride is a threat to anyone. Pulling this shit only further confirms that the anti-trans stuff was never about safety. It’s performative cruelty to dehumanize and humiliate trans people.
Some updates on the attacks on Rep-elect Sarah McBride and on Trans women in general.

Is there a way to look at Trump’s proposed cabinet nominations as anything other than a full frontal assault on the idea of a federal government?

This isn’t just an ideological shift, or even an erosion. Nearly top to bottom, each pick is a mockery of the executive role they’re meant to perform.

Hear me out.

Everything that Hollywood taught me about parasites is that they seek to perpetuate themeslves.

Maybe RFKJ never got rid of the brain worm. Maybe the brain worm got rid of RFKJ.
My God…
RFK Jr.: “Thank you [to the NIH] for public service. We’re going to give infectious disease a break for about eight years.”

Kennedy wants to take a “break” from studying infectious diseases like COVID-19 and measles.

So is this it now? I’m tired of relocating every time a billionaire moves into the neighborhood and trashes the place.
