So to see a Canadian league propose to diminish what makes it Canadian at a time when there’s a real threat of losing both our cultural sovereignty and actual sovereignty … well, that is mighty upsetting.

In this era of hyperlocal, artisanal everything - never mind renewed Canadian patriotism - the failure of MLSE to sell this unique game in Canada’s largest market suggests they should bow out.

• Leave the rules the way they are
