I'm less worried about the content of the cookies. Why do I have to "approve" them endlessly? I mean, it literally never ends!!

Huh. I've never heard of this. I don't have kids. I wonder if it's supposed to be for the benefit of the parents, the benefit of the students, or as documentation that the school district's legal counsel requires.

Why is Threads popular?

Haidt is a psychologist. He’s pointing out a weakness in the human psyche that can be exploited. That weakness is that humans tend to be activated by and addicted to *outrage*. That’s why social media algorithms are designed to show us things it predicts we will be outraged by!

No, that’s different. Cambridge Analytica exploited a hole in Facebook’s API to identify voters they thought were persuadable and then targeted those voters with ads.

First that comes to mind is Thrak. Might not count, as it’s the “double trio” lineup w/ two drummers.

Oh I agree, but that’s very big and vague. I mean, I’d like a softer, gentler, less stressful world too!

The ubiquitous stress and anxiety we all feel emerges from the political and social upheavals, right? Those things are *definitely* driven by the algorithms, there is no question about that.

Nah. Haidt is on to something. The algorithms are the problem.

Individualism is important and good but hyper-individualism is bad.

Individualism and collectivism in balance is what the goal needs to be.

It’s like we just went through this with “The University of Austin”.

I love Reich too. With Adams I like the violin concerto but I haven’t had much luck with his other stuff.

His first four symphonies are great! It’s an error on the snootier side of the classical music audience to dismiss Glass.
