I get a fair amount of nasty things sent my way in general, but especially because of my Zelda video. Over the years these are the kinds of comments I've gotten because I've pointed its anti-Indigenous and anti-Arab/Muslim tropes.
YouTube comment that reads as follows: The Gerudo sucks in botw and totk for one reason; they're sexist. They were sexist in oot and mm too, but the difference was they were also bad guys so it was palatable. Now they just ban men for no reason other than "tradition," rip away children from their fathers by force, everyone gets gaslit into thinking its ok and a wholesome moment, and begrudgingly accept help from a man because they can't fight off the gibdo by themselves...so it's conditional sexism. Fucking hate modern Zelda so much man. It's not just the game design or the shitty quests, it's the lack of soul and woke shit planted into a fantasy world where they have no reason to be there other than satisfying an agenda. Fucking retarded. Side note, a bunch of the shit takes in this video are also retarded but that's unrelated. Be honest; how often do you get outside? There's a reason disability is the go-to way regardless of political alignment to disparage politicians and why it is so often juxtaposed with criminality.

There's an extensive history in the US rationalizing murder and eugenics by way of disability and age to people for the betterment of society.

Tikal in Sonic Adventure is the Indigenous princess stereotype in the way she's presented as the more peaceful, reasonable figure in the group standing up to her father who wants to use the emeralds for war and ultimately led to the near extinction of their people.

This is also why several characters have this lore that features Indigenous coded characters who all are wiped out from some great tragedy or disaster but everyone in the present gets to take and keep their resources for the game mechanics.

There are parts that compare speeches from US politicians used to rationalize the war on terror to media that came out around the same time and comparisons to Black characters in media in the 70s after the height of media focus on the civil rights movement.

Lois Lane just be staying on her racist propaganda arc. They would do a similar thing in the 70s where a Black activist is framed as unreasonably hostile to her despite her only showing up in a Black neighborhood to advance her career, then transforming herself into a Black woman with a machine.

I left a comment but YouTube's censorship is a huge pain and forced me out of my account twice, so here we are.
2:01 getting hit by the 2-piece combo of what the comment is saying then seeing british capitalized but not Black. The culture of isolation jumped out as a direct parallel to the fact that isolation and sensory deprivation are both methods of torture and control. There's a great deal of torture lit that also discusses the effects of psychological torture that tend to get downplayed because someone isn't physically touching you. "Spirituality and the ethics of torture" talks a lot about this and how things don't even register as torture because we're conditioned to mostly think of it as a physical act, but having control and power over your victim is a major factor in torture too and is part of what leads to long-term health complications when you've been tortured. I know from experience that when I was in grade school we had lunch detentions where if you didn't have your ID, rather than just making you get another ID, they would isolate you from your peers and force you into lunch detention. We also had the 1-2 hour detention and on several occasions, I got Saturday school. Not only was it a neurodivergent thing, but my mother was disabled and we live in an extremely cold part of the US. She didn't want me walking and I didn't qualify for the busline, but because of her disability I would always be late to my first class, which resulted in me getting several detentions. Saturday school had a lot of similar rules to what you described where you're forced into silence and not able to move or look around. I also just straight up skipped school for a few days after our house had been foreclosed on and I was just a mess at the prospect of being forced into moving and their solution was to assign me several weeks of Saturday detention. I didn't even bother spending them because I changed schools mid-year only to get more detentions afterward. They didn't care that we were on the edge of homelessness and the principal felt more like a cop interrogating me than anything. A lot of the public space and surveillance culture also plays into the idea of mask bans that are growing in the US because it's almost the exact same tactic. There was a great campaign in the last 3 years to criminalize the idea of masking (knowing that in the US it's disproportionately Black, Asian, disabled, etc people who still continue to mask) and now we're seeing American films and TV series that also are starting to portray terrorists wearing N95s. the efforts had been active by politicians like Eric Adams as early as 2021, so what I'm seeing a lot is recreated dynamics of fabricating a set type of criminal and normalizing it through media and marketing. Love the editing work and really digging the new format! It's great for dissenting a lot of this information and getting it out there but keeping it fresh and engaging. If I could maybe give one suggestion, your lower third that provides the information at the bottom of the screen may conflict with a user that relies on subtitles if they're hard of hearing or have sensory difficulties. This means that for them the information at the bottom of the screen would be competing with trying to follow along with subtitles, so it may be helpful to consider moving the citation/information bar somewhere away from the default subtitle position. You can move the subtitles on videos on desktops. I'm not sure about mobile but a lot of people who use them don't even know they can be moved, meaning they're at the bottom of the screen below the safety line by default. That said, it really shows that you put a lot of effort and thought into this and always want to commend that. Amazing work, dog.
