We lost our lab just over a year ago. He had all his people with him and his head on my daughter’s lap as he went. Still miss him dreadfully. My condolences.

My initial thought was had they been confused by the @heardislandgov.bsky.social account somehow (I know, penguins and turtles are different). It all feels so very surreal at the moment.

My daughter is home this weekend and literally just said - it’s not like he had 2 year old twins to look after like you did, he’s hardly a hero.

When my husband died suddenly the idiot boy at the bank asked me if he’d committed suicide. I really should have kicked up a stink over that but at that moment I was just surviving myself and in no condition to fight that sort of nonsense. I get antsy with them fast now though 😬
