As someone who worked as a graduate TA, we were warned to look out for students looking for an excuse to complain to admin for an agenda, usually to get an "A" without actually completing the class. Before even knowing the background, it was clear to me that was what was going on here.

It blew my mind as a kid, because while he never expanded on it, there was always the implication that the "Red Book of Westmarch" was a real document that Tolkien was simply translating, which was more explicit in "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil"

I was thrown trying to sort out dates in the Witcher series until I realized the 12 months all had exactly 30 days, as did the cycle of the moon, and I had been fooled by the English translation just assigning the regular calendar names to the months

I adopted my first cat in grad school, a super-friendly black cat in the neighborhood. I called my girlfriend and asked how we were going to get him inside; I opened the door to see if I could find him and he ran inside, laid down in a beanbag chair and immediately fell asleep

Well... there WAS one other (sort of) future for Twilight: 2000... namely, WEG's Paranoia crossover "Twilightcycle:2000" has the identical historical events as a precursor to Alpha Complex (with the proto-Computer in a research facility in TW2K San Francisco)

I had a cat for 16 years and it was hard to think about getting another, but we saw the featured cat at the local shelter that was the nicest boy, 5 years old, but no one would adopt because he had a big blister on one paw and three years later our little rascal Peanut Butter is the best!

Uranus was named incorrectly because it's Greek and the rest of the planets have Roman names. Properly it should be called Caelus, but admittedly that's not as funny
