Actually, it's increasingly for the foolish. Half of Florida will be submerged within our lifetimes, the other half will be scoured clean by megastorms. Insurance will be withdrawn; homeowners will be bankrupt and homeless. There's also the issue of fascist-lite state government.

Simple math—inflation means prices went up. Deflation would mean they're going down again. Without deflation, prices remain high. Presumably wages haven't adjusted, so the higher prices cause mounting debt & retrenchment. So people are commensurately pissed off. It's not a lag, it's an accumulation
