The cats are at the window, watching the birds outside on the railing. Kotaro got a little too close to Suzumi, and she didn't make any noise, just gave him a little push with a paw. It was very "older sibling has had enough of younger one's antics."

Did another "no gate" interaction between the cats early this afternoon. There was some circling and sniffing each other; apparently, Suzumi disliked Kotaro trying to sniff her behind (she hissed), but she had no problem trying to sniff his. 😁

Today's "sans gate" interaction between the cats went well. No growling or hissing; they sat and groomed themselves while I fed them Greenies. Hopefully this means they're on their way to coexistence in the same space.

First meeting "sans gate" happened between Suzumi and Kotaro today. Suzumi did growl and hiss a little, but Kotaro did back off. I assume she's setting boundaries. She was willing to take treats while he was out, so that's a plus.

Cat-egration continues apace. Suzumi seems to be more accepting of Kotaro, at least through the gate. I'm assuming that giving them pieces of kibble and lots of praise during the "visits" is helping.

Letting Suzumi and Kotaro interact through a baby gate, for the nonce. Suzumi's reactions alternate between "I don't know you; keep your distance" and "I would like to see the baby." 😊

"Behold, the Black Sun Creation King!" This is our new kitty, Kotaro. We adopted him from Ten Lives Club on December 20, 2025. He's about seven months old, and quite the energetic little fellow!

Our kitty boy has pulmonary cancer. We have a consultation with a specialist early next week. Having thisd happen so soon after losing our girl to cancer hurts so freaking much.
