If you look at the tax map where Moores Grove meets the trail you can see the properties in question.

The gratuities clause only comes into play when the government sells property for below market value. The government could take this property, but obviously is trying to avoid that by offering to buy it above market value. But not by much — anyone who thinks the tax value is fair is an idiot.

Nine property owners are objecting. Ten thousand voted in favor of it. This has been 26 years in the making, the issue has already been adjuticated twice, and three quarters of voters want it built. Use your windfall from the county to build a privacy fence.

Commissioner Davenport had a lot to say about the Firefly Trail during his end of meeting comments. He's asking people to have respect for the property owners who might lose a portion of their backyards as the trail is built.

Dude went easy on them compared to what my grandpa would’ve said

That’s what ACC does when they knock down the bill by 70% for something like Classic City Heights, or foot the entire bill for Bethel‘s water/sewer improvements. Put the community benefit in writing.

If we (taxpayers) pay for water infrastructure on private property, it better come with a guarantee that pinewoods will remain affordable housing for the next, say, 30 years. Otherwise the cheap landowner will flip it to an apartment developer immediately and everyone there will be evicted.

It’s off a major highway, there must be a water main. Why hasn’t the property owner tied on?
blakeaued.bsky.social
Just get rid of the BACs, you hardly ever listen to them anyway.

Now the commission is putting everything on hold. The item that changes the procedures for boards, authorities and commissions is going back to government ops.
blakeaued.bsky.social
Also Stephanie Johnson keeps bringing up the “long and unexplainable“ process for building SPLOST projects. It’s at least partially because commissioners keep voting to start over!

At the very least it gives Tim Denson a great comeback if anyone brings up defunding the police

This is gonna come back to bite Dexter, I think. Who votes against firefighters?
athenspoliticsnerd.bsky.social
They're voting on the fire station #5 replacement, drumroll please....

It passes 6-3. Commissioners Davenport, Fisher and Johnson voted no. Thornton is absent.

Thank God reason prevails. Interesting vote from one of the mayoral candidates, though. 👀

Davenport: Rural eastsiders “buy into this quality of life they want to preserve”

Wouldn‘t your house burning down affect your quality of life? Particularly if it burned down with you in it.
blakeaued.bsky.social
Other than 5, I mean.
blakeaued.bsky.social
??? Pretty sure we’ve replaced all or most of them in the past 20 years, and there aren’t any plans to build more.
athenspoliticsnerd.bsky.social
Davenport now says he wants a comprehensive fire station location plan, not just a plan of where to put fire station no. 5.

How long does he want to delay this?

I can’t. And I’m also not a fan of “religious impulses“ as a driving factor in history. When has that ever been a good thing?
blakeaued.bsky.social
Religion has killed hundreds of millions of people.

Georgia went through this circa 2006 when we passed a harsh immigration law. Crops were rotting in the fields. They even tried bussing in prisoners, but the prisoners were like nah, we’d rather be in prison than pick onions.

Leave it to State to run some Tecmo Bowl-ass offense because the players are too busy studying up on how to milk cows
jeradwalker.bsky.social
ESPN is simultaneously analyzing and trolling Mississippi State’s offense.
It’s a basic Tecmo Bowl run play up the middle

It’s Slidell. If you’ve never eaten anything besides boudin and alligator, steaks are a score
