The only multiplayer shooter I've been actively putting time throughout the years. Had a bit of a knock-on effect as to what I find funny within and outside of gaming moments. I need Valve to give this game love again please for the love of god.

I picked this up some time after watching an LP of it. I like lifesims and I like RPGs, so doing both sounded interesting to me.
Turned out to be my new gold standard of the former, and has one of my favorite bachelorette rosters.
More lifesims need to emphasize the "life" part!

Taught me a couple of things but mainly "you have to be patient in order to get through the obstacles with little issues" and "don't fucking trust what people say about old games on the internet"

First JP-Only game I ever emulated. Taught me that mechanics in RPGs can be used for intricate storytelling alongside unique design philosophies. The fan translation is great, but both the original and remake are equally valid.
One of the most important games under Square's banner.

Not my favorite in the series nowadays but the one that really taught me what I wanted from a mainline title. Sinnoh's a great region to explore despite the HM overuse, and the team variety that's available here is rather stellar.
Still has my favorite Starter Trio to this day

Should've been the first thing I put on here honestly. The apex of Square's lineage in action, RPG, and miscellaneous genre explorations, and a game I can try in many different ways and be rewarded for doing so.

Still my favorite Bioware game. Has holes in it like swiss cheese but it's pretyy easy to forgive due to how it exudes its ambition as a Shooter-RPG and sci-fi worldbuilding.
Also taught me having a Set Plot Structure can be good if you iterate on it hard enough lmao.

Always preferred this over the first game. One of extremely few fans that will not shittalk its prequel tho.
Puts the "role" in role-playing game; affirm your decisions and/or build, and recognize the lingering effects of hurt
Don't play with the Restored Content Mod

Was to pre-teen me as NBA Street Vol 2 was to kid me. Made me learn about the artistry of mixes and DJing, and still has some of the most ingenious mashups I've ever heard.
You haven't lived til you experience The Message v. Radio and beat juggle them to pieces.

One of the first arcadey games I've ever played, and my first exposure to the cultures of hip-hop and basketball.
Learning it was easy. Mastering it was tougher yet invigorating. Has some of the coolest moves you'll ever see, and every game needs a built-in buzzer beater mechanic

Story? Themes? Yea, those exist.
But why put precedence on those when you can just mix-and-match your figurines to do the sickest combos and clutchest plays with the greatest DnB/Techno OST to ever grace the medium?

First Kamiya game I played before I even knew who he was. Kicked my ass a ton but it was a vital lesson to learn how to approach enemies, to learn how simplicity can breed creativity, and learn "stylish combat" comes understanding of enemy type and coordination.
Be Viewtiful.

Same thing with Sly but tenfold. You can't be the fastest thing if you aren't constantly reassessing and intuiting the environments around you, and planning every which way around them.
Imitators can try, but they'll never dethrone the king of speed

Grew up with Sly more over Ratchet and Jak. 3's my favorite but I think all three entries have their pros and cons that makes them super fun to dissect.
Taught me that a platformer's moveset & abilities are only ever as good as the levels that let them flourish.
