And I also know it’s very rich for me to say ‘wow us stupid English people who can’t speak any other languages’ when I myself am English and cannot speak any other language than my own lmao

Like I used to think I could never be in a county that spoke multiple languages because it’d be ‘too difficult’, then I learned more about other cultures and other places and realised it’s really not that difficult at all yk, you might not become fluent but you definitely can understand

As English people (and also something that happens in America and other places) I feel like we’re so used to expecting other people to just speak English that we think learning languages is harder than it is, if that makes sense. Its only recently that I actually realised/learned that isn’t the case
