Tbh, forums were a lil more healthy when they were more niche. Rather than sites like this, where so many different interests/people have to interact all the time.

Definitely made me take less mental dmg being on old style forums, vs current day social medias.

I also miss websites for SPECIFIC uses.
Like sites you'd go to make a silly image, one that would just play a specific sound effect, or the doll palace for dressup games.

Now everything is kinda lumped all into 4-6 places (insta, twotter/bluesky, TT, steam, epic store, etc)

You'd be out, doing stuff, and MAYBE check the computer at the end of the day, to check messages/ catch up.
Weekends were gaming time, and even then, everyone i knew would just be on late at night, after being out doing stuff all day.
None knew what you did online, unless you brought it up.

Well, for one, things that happened online, generally stayed online.

The most you'd get to any real life crossover would probably have been myspace stuff. But even then, people had to be on MySpace.

People had away healthier online/rl balance.
