Variety is great! The square spirals feel particularly confusing and brain-blanking. Round spirals are classic and good for smooth trances. Small spirals are good for a surprised and hyperfocused subject.

Kinesthetically, I imagine the hands stroking my head (or my brain) but it sounds like you're looking for visual VR ideas? Maybe you could be looking at yourself in a mirror and seeing the ghost hands on\in your head? 🤔
