Sample text from the newsletter follows: Flammie stood out to me for a couple of reasons when I played Secret of Mana. First: Dragon mount! Holy crap! Can't go wrong with a dragon mount, especially a dragon mount that makes excellent use of the SNES' famed Mode 7 graphical effects. Second, as I noted earlier, Flammie is not a typical bat-winged fire-breathing dragon. You'll still find those in Mana games — usually designed around good ol' D&D tradition (Red dragons breathe fire, blue dragons breathe lightning, etc) — but Flammie has little in common with those cave-dwelling cads. Flammies are covered in a thick white coat of fur and they're held aloft by not two but four wings that work in harmony to keep their friends aloft. "Fuzzy" dragons that go against the monsters' physical status quo aren't very common, but they existed before Flammie. In fact, Flammie is based on Falkor, the fuzzy luckdragon from The Neverending Story who soared through the dreams of '80s kids. According to the Art of Mana, Secret of Mana producer Hiromichi Tanaka says Flammie is "chubbier and friendlier" than Falkor, and you won't find me arguing against that "chubbier" bit. Just look at those big ol' drumsticks. "
