Visual 🧵 to simplify blacksky, myatpro, etc. migration.

Step 1: If you have two-factor authorization enabled, you must briefly disable it. In the left-hand menu, go to 'settings', then 'privacy and security.' Your 2FA may look different. Click 'change', 'disable', etc. and follow the instructions.
An image depicting the bsky.app Privacy and Security menu where two-factor authorization (2FA) can be temporarily disabled for the purposes of migrating your bsky.social account to another protocol. Verbatim text of image to follow after three dashes.

To be fair to corporate social media, a lot of the bigotry, especially the racism and anti-Blackness, is endemic in tech corporate or not. Mastodon certainly has it's own gnarly racism problems.

"I know it was built by the same people who built the Torment Nexus, but I really thought Torment Nexus 2.0 wouldn't have so much torment!"

People suddenly realizing a corporate social media platform is abusive toward users and mostly exists to platform and protect fascists and sympathizers.

Like, yeah, it's a corporate social media platform. You knew what this was when you signed up for it.

Can we get the word around for more donations to go to BlackSky so there’s funding for the infrastructure that can bring Link back?

From my understanding:

Relays are costly and expensive. Anyone feel free to chime in. Bluesky relays is what has him banned.

tomorrow morning a truck is gonna deliver WAY TOO MANY copies of Sex Change and the City to my house, so anyway I panicked and now you can get 25% off of 2+ copies of SCATC, this week only, with code TWOSHOES.

📚🛒: girldadpress.bigcartel.com

It's a trans/queer Sex and the City anthology btw :)

SCOOP — Part of the reason Disney/ABC may have rushed to sort things out with Kimmel is because tomorrow they have a planned price increase for Disney+ streaming, a Disney source tells me. With subscriptions hemorrhaging since last week, they couldn’t risk losing more users with this announcement.

The Starkweather's "Burn the Flag" is a song that's all too relevant these days.

"Don't let 'em beat you down my friends because we disagree with the way they make a shamble of our lives. If you don't love it change it. It don't have to be this way."

Maybe not their best song, but this was the Hadocol song that got a lot of play on KLZR back in the day www.youtube.com/watch?v=wku1...

I actually got to hang out in the studio while Split Lip Rayfield recorded "Never Make It Home." (I was in high school, career shadowing the producer.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsEl...

Other excellent country/alt-country from around KC in the 90s: The Starkweathers, Hadocol, Mike Ireland & Holler, and Arthur Dodge and the Horsefeathers.

For bluegrass lovers, there's Wichita's Split Lip Rayfield.

Fun fact, the lead singer from Giant's Chair went on to have a whole career fronting the alt-country band Rex Hobart and the Misery Boys whose song "I Always Cry at Wedding" lives in my head rent free. www.youtube.com/watch?v=952b...

Another hill I will die on is that Frogpond's "I Did" should have been a smash alternative summer hit and the world really missed out in 1999 www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXlV...

Featuring, possibly, the only spoken part of a song I have ever enjoyed.

Another niche nostalgia (nichestalgia?) opinion: It is an absolute tragedy that Paw's best song, "Cowpoke," doesn't seem to have been officially released in the US, not even on their rarities compilation. (Thank goodness for Napster or I might never have heard it.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1pn...

God it’s fucking weird to be so hated because I’m eccentric. I don’t know if you realize how much time other people spend measuring you but it’s fucking constant if you have autism

I just want to make silly songs and sad girl music, world. Stop being so terribly unjust so I can stop writing angry political songs.

The misinformation surrounding the Untreated Syphilis Study at Tuskegee is some of the most damaging info that has even been communicated to my ppl. And that slip up in the facts is literally killing us.
pasch-x.bsky.social
All of this!!!

When I talk to Black folk about vaccines, they usually bring up Tuskegee experiment. TE was not the government giving us a disease, it was the withholding of proper treatment - the vaccine - & allowing it to spread w/o our knowledge. Vaccines have been our friend since the Motherland
