sorry. remembering how sad mouthwashing made me (positive)

mouthwashing is a horror game to me not because of jumpscares or whatever. but desperately searching for help or connection in the people around you and never receiving it (from the pov of anya). oogh

i think its really effective!! i felt myself in real time playing for the first time, latching onto curly and hoping he was "a good guy", and when it was evident he wasn't, i looked to swansea, and to daisuke but....

i think the game intrigues me a lot due to all the ways men will hurt women in various ways: active harm, performative 'help', apathy, and ignorance. its sad! i think its really good! i think part of the point is search for one of the male characters to like, only to realize they're all implicated

my lukewarm take: swansea let anya down too. sorry. i dont think hes a good dad figure to her.

do i think curly is redeemable? ehhh its complicated (just by virtue of the question of who can be redeemed) but i dont think he was a shining good captain like he's occasionally drawn to be. i think he sucks! and i think that makes him a good character!
