I'm all in for a little more time to engage in face-to-face interaction, dive into creativity & physical activity, and cultivate deeper connections. It's a break from the constant screen presence that impacts children's development, mental health, and overall well-being.

Today's reminder is feelings like anxiety get bigger & louder when no one is listening. When left unaddressed, anxiety tends to grow instead of resolve on its own.
Meeting the feeling without trying to rationalize it away, is the gentlest way I've supported big feelings.

Happy Pi day! We actually celebrate "Pie" day at our house.

Here's a reminder to infuse some joy and make some memories and traditions where you can. Celebrate pie day, New Years, solstice, May day or memorial day or....? Set up a tradition once a month or season or year to do something special.

Reminder, feelings aren't a problem. Big behaviors like aggression are almost always related to fear. You can't talk someone out of a feeling... I heard someone say, "be like a flight attendant". I think of that often in a moment of turbulence and try to find ways to offer safety to myself & child.

Parenting can stir up big emotions and past traumas too. It's normal for things to come up in response to our child's behavior. We all have these different parts of us- protective, hurt, defensive, or overwhelmed... AND also parts of us that are peaceful, trusting, and compassionate. 💖Be gentle!

Here's my Tuesday tip...
All feelings are normal. When our feelings are allowed they can shift. So our job as caregivers is not to make their feelings “go away”, but to support our child in those big feeling moments. The goal isn't to override the feelings/ for our child to only feel happy.
