maybe her talks with Trump can appeal to whatever humanity he has left & help move her country forward, if not maybe it will keep him from retaliating against them. I only hope for the best for the Venezuelans they've already been through too much and like all people deserve freedom.

The road ahead for Venezuela is rocky and uncertain. I'm sure there are many people trying to find a way forward, not just Machado, it will take the entire country to secure its future. Having a foreign leader that is not interested in Venezuelan freedom but only its oil doesn't help but...

Who in Venezuela has the support and name recognition to be the opposition? Is there evidence that Venezuelans have soured on Machado because of her coziness to Trump? What's your answer to freeing the people of Venezuela, not a concept but actual policy actions.

What would you have her do, Fight with him and push him more towards the current regime. It's not black and white. She has to confront this dictator like she has to confront Maduro. How many Venezuelans died under Maduro? She has already made sacrifices for her country. What are her options?

What saddens me the most are the people mad she made this decision. She is trying everything she can to help her people and negotiating with an irrational dictator is what she has to do. You guys would rather Tr*mp lose than the Venezuelan people benefit.

People are frustrated and wanted change. For better or worse. Trump preys on this frustration to his advantage. The best asset he has is that people who oppose him are willing to turn on each other over purity rather than setting aside those differences and focus their energy on Trump.

I can understand people's frustration with NPR not directly calling out Trump and his administration's actions. They do report the consequences of those actions and those it hurts. NPR could have called Trump a liar and a fascist during the election and it would have changed very little. Trump.
