I think you’re referring to the Korean War? That’s certainly how Truman labeled it in the beginning. (Afterwards, certain people began referring to it as the “Forgotten War,” because nobody seemed to want to discuss it.) But “police action” was the term frequently used to mean “undeclared”war.

It would appear nobody declares war on anyone, or even uses the term “war” any longer? 🤔🤷🏻

Or there’s “military intervention.” But since that was used in the UNSC Resolution 83 on 27 June 1950 as the “recommendation” UN member nations take to restore peace in Korea following North Korea’s attack on (what was then) the Republic of Korea…that might make some parties a bit *twitchy.*
