How much have you lengthened so far? I put on a knee sleeve this morning, b/c my knee feels like it's being pulled to one-side. This surgery re-aligned my leg to be straight, now my knee, has to adjust to the new normal. Heat and Ice is the way to go.

Solid plans! Drink lots a milk. My wife also forced me to take multivitamins 😕….she’s almost more ready for this to be over with than I am 😀.

How are things going? Should be pretty smooth sailing at this point. Are you taking the Ibuprofen? Are you doing any PT? I'm about 12 days from being Full Weight Bearing, which I can't wait for, b/c I'm tired of these crutches!

Inflammation is part of the fracture healing process and the NSAIDs interfere with it. My doc still will not let me take Ibuprofen/NSAIDs. Stick with Tylenol. Better safe than sorry.

My doc waited 2 wks before starting the lengthening and then only started at .5mm/day. This does seem to be a fairly uncommon procedure, but definitely the best way to go to get both legs the same length.
Good luck with your progress and HMU if you have any questions.

The ERC is an external magnet used to lengthen the rod. How is your leg being lengthened?

Cool tech!!

I was able to drive my Automatic, but not the stick...until today 😈. Make sure you have room for crutches and get a temporary Handicap tag.

Start PT early and stick with it. Are you using an ERC?

It’s pretty f’n awesome. No more shoe buildups. Are you doing PT?

I was on oxy pain meds for maybe a week or less, then switches to tylenol. DO NOT use Ibuprofen/NSAIDs as they will adversely impact your healing. Keep up with the dosing every 6hrs or so.. you don't want to get behind the 'pain curve'. My pain never really got beyond a 5-6/10.

No set backs.

I had the same/similar surgery done August 2nd. I completed the lengthening phase (~2") about a month ago and I'm 1 month into the consolidation phase. Any questions/concerns I can help you with?

When did you have surgery and what device did they use?
