Second is the newest member of the household: The monstera finished unfurling its new leaf. I still have plant shop gift certificates. May go stress buy some plants today.

Now, because I've annoyed myself beyond my own tolerance for the day already, a couple good things. First, the room Thing1 and Thing2 were banned from was the kitchen while I started an overnight oats experiment. (Descriptions are in the alt text in this case.)
4 different, labelled, pint size mason jars with different overnight oat mixtures. Left to right, there's choco protein (an oats version of the chocolate protein smoothie I make), choco (cocoa powder, coconut milk, and vanilla extract), rice milk, and macadamia nut milk. All 4 have oats, some chia seeds as a thickener, and a pinch of salt. All but the protein one have some white sugar in them. The two non-chocolate ones have cut up peaches on top because I happen to have a jar of fancy canned peaches right now.

I think we both survived! The soil was damp but not saturated and the roots didn't look obviously bad. They'd really taken over the extra space since August - if I'd had the next size up pot, I would've used it, but it's not a baby plant and it likes drier soil, so I think this one will be fine.

The rug needed washed anyway, it's fine.

Speaking of that plant. I went to the nursery first to get a bag of soil and the plant on the left was THREE HUNDRED AMERICAN DOLLARS. The plant on the right is mine. It's probably a fancy related cultivar and mine could use a little TLC but goddamn. It's only about 1.5 feet tall!

It may be the dark days of the year, but the monstera is putting on a new leaf and all 4 orchids are putting up new stalks. This is including the newest which has just a tiiiiiny little stub yet. The overachiever orchid had about a 2 week gap between losing the last flower and starting a new stalk 🙄

Two small houseplants in a cart at a big box home improvement store. The smaller is a fiddle leaf fig and the slightly larger is a multi-colored croton with wider leaves than the one I have at home.

A quarter size (about 9" x 13") commercial style sheet pan with sides. Its badly discolored from use, with 3/4 of it fully black.

In an annoyingly predictable turn of events, I felt a lot better once I was outside, moving around, and participating in an event. Had Tavi out for an hour and Kenna for half that, then stole Kenna's light up collar for myself and went round to the neighbors for the last half hour 😂

I have made A Lot of soup. The veg soup on the right is going into the freezer as individual portions because I'm almost out of the soup that's in there. The zuppa toscana on the left (with coconut milk) is for this week. May have gotten a smidge carried away with the Soup of the Week quantity.

A glass food storage container and a large metal bowl, both filled with a basic vegetable soup. The soup is V8, chicken stock, cabbage, corn, peas, and green beans.

My weekend. I upgraded the hoops (they were most of the cost by far) because I have negative sense memories of the cheaper, splintery versions. Also upgraded the floss bin one step for the same reason. Trying cheaper floss and initial impression is definitely not as good as DMC but okay for now.

And the last two from the fundraiser, which are both trailing peperomia. The first is peperomia cupid and the second is peperomia tetragona. The tetragona is hanging out with the jades right now until it's hook is up in the kitchen window.

Y'all want to meet the new plants, right? I knew it. OKAY, SO, first up we have a foxtail fern, a variegated plectranthus ciliatus, a solid light green plectranthus ciliatus, and a swiss cheese pothos.

Was watching a YouTuber talk about decor things they like and one was unconventional living room layouts. I straight up thought to myself "I'd like to have something unconventional but I just don't have the room". Then I remembered my living room set-up isn't exactly typical.

The non-plant winnings included 4 juice size atomic style glasses and a coffee basket that had, among other things, an aeropress, several samples of locally roasted coffee, and a painted coffee bean sack.
