Friend w/ FAA, aviation safety inspector, 72 yo just retired. Most ASI in her region are close to retirement age. They work nationally. You need ~15 yrs experience to do this job proficiently. She’s ATP, ME, float rated, instructor,etc. How many 35yo pilots are going to step into this job? lol!
