Obviously there are a lot of problems with this idea, I'm just throwing things out there

Maybe we could adjust content moderation standards depending on how big the platform is? Like bigger platforms have more resources and influence, so they should be held to a higher standard compared to smaller platforms, especially around algorithmically amplified content. (1/?)

They could establish things like advisory boards focused on ethical AI. These groups can create clear ethical guidelines and enforce them through legislation.

I think the shift has been pretty dramatic. Social media has completely changed how ads reach us not just in speed, but also precision. With algorithms tracking our behavior, ads are now hyper-targeted in our feeds. It's getting harder to distinguish between content and— (1/?)

Personally, I prefer advocacy reporting. Traditional objective reporting may get the basic facts without bias, but advocacy reporting highlights stories and injustices that would otherwise be overlooked. I prefer the transparency in knowing where someone's perspective lies.

I think it also creates a feedback loop: the more disconnected people feel from those in power, the more they turn to communities that validate their doubts or suspicions, even if those spaces are misinformation central. The more they turn to these spaces, the more disconnected— (1/?)

I think the size of the group matters depending on the platform—on X (cough, Twitter), for example, a few loud voices can feel like a majority. So even small groups can trigger the spiral if they're visible and vocal enough.

It's getting harder for me to give sources a second chance, is basically what I'm saying.

I agree that media plays a powerful role in shaping and reinforcing our beliefs. Personally, I try to stay open to reading articles from news sources that have previously disappointed me, but sometimes I just. do not have the patience for that. Or the article causes so much psychic—

I think we are shaping the message by engaging with content that aligns with our values. Algorithms amplify the most engaging content, which reinforces certain messages while filtering out others. Brands craft the message, the audience determines its reach/impact. #uwj201 #301
