Is there anything about how women are represented in straight romance that puts off some female readers, to the point they only read MLM?

Try telling a man that he's wrong, and things get defensive and angry really fast. Chivalry is also tied to being paternalistic and infantilizing women. I feel that a lot of people confuse it with moral behavior, yet also tied to a non-verbal form of dominance.

Being female, my perception is that masculinity is tied to dominance over others. Simpler men assume this means physical dominance, but I also find that it is also often emotional and intellectual dominance. Even if it's not really earned.
