Had some pals over to make pom poms on Thursday and confirmed that no one can be sad while making pom poms.

Loooove to dream up textile art for my friends spaces even if trying to communicate what a fiber piece will look like with a digital tool is frustrating.

All humans are creative by nature, it is just a matter of nurturing the parts that want to play.
If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼

Where are all the crafty people at on here? I want to see sewists, weavers, spinners, beading, braiding, woodworking. All the stuff that’s made by hand. 👀

I’m experimenting with natural dye using the prickly pear fruits in my yard. The fabric in this jar will be used to make dowel pockets which will be behind the tapestries so they will be protected from sunlight and the color will be better preserved.

Sometimes you gotta take the day off of working as an independent artist to go hiking and make beaded bracelets

Last daylight progress and more reasons to work at floor level.

Started from the bottom now we’re here. Working from the floor feels grounding tbh. The only other time i sit on my bolster with my legs crossed is when i am doing yoga or meditating, so i think good feels are kind of encoded in this posture.

My art process has definitely evolved over time, but I’m one thing that’s never changed which is giving myself the emotional and physical tools for space to play when I’m just starting on an idea.

What are your creative space constants?

I’m planning a tapestry using all my brown tones as an ode to the #pantone color of the year and it’s already my most controversial work based on the response from followers on the fascist photo app lol

Why does creativity sometimes come in bursts so intense that you can’t stop even though your body hurts and you’re starving?

Today I finished weaving a tapestry, chose fibers and warped for a new one, mordanted fabric to dye, and cut out pieces for a cloak I’m sewing. 10 hrs, one 20 min break 🤪

Hello Bluesky world! My names Melanie and I’m a weaver. I quit my tech job last August to make art full-time. I’m here to share my work, open up about my process, and connect with interior designers for commissions. See some of my work below and let’s connect!
