And my final gripe is the music. Inquistion had such a strong sound track, DAV is weirdly quiet by comparison. What few recurring themes there have been, just don't hit as hard.

The broad plot, and concepts of the various companions are strong. It feels more like there was a fear of being too dark or something. From a technical standpoint, the gameplay and environments are incredibly well done. And it hasn't had bugs, which is rare for a big RPG.

The Antivan Crows go from being mysterious, horrific and bloody assassins, to swashbuckling freedom fights in beautiful outfits. And so on.

IE, the First Warden is the worst, and all other wardens apologize to you for his behavior. The slavery and horrors of blood magic of Tevinter are completely missing, and it's just kind of replaced with an extremely surface level version of wealth inequality.

The setting itself feels very sanitized, and a lot of the sharp edges have been removed. Almost all the factions are presented in pretty morally unambiguous ways, and anybody from a faction you work with that isn't good, is presented as the complete exception to that.

Most of the companions are already friendly and emotionally available to Rook, and without chances for disapproval, you never feel like you are learning from them or have any tension with them. Having that journey to get them to be that open was a big part of the joy in the earlier games.

Most of the issues with the game are that it removes any sharp edges in a way that makes it feel juvenile. Virtually no room for disagreements with NPCS. Approval and XP are tied as a single resource with companions, and very few choices cause disapproval.
