Not sure what to do with other parents who smoke at the playground. Like they obviously don't give a shit to begin with

Assuming that Thune is not full of shit, can tariffs be passed through reconciliation?
Reporter: Will the legislative filibuster remain unchanged under your tenure?

Thune: Yes.

If you’re concerned about #ScheduleF, one of my Twitter followers made this handy @resistbot.bsky.social letter for us all to send to our reps 🧪🔭

Schedule F will happen by executive order, but it’s good for reps to hear that their constituents don’t want this.

One of the things I've come to realize is that games with the premise "you can build whatever you want" don't appeal to me that much. I need structure or I get overwhelmed

It feels like a longshot but I hope that the worst of the tariffs can be avoided by congressional Rs having some sense of self preservation

What's crazy about takes like this is that we were all there for the dumpster fire that was the Trump campaign. We know what he campaigned on. It definitely was not "I feel your pain"
DANA BASH: But what the voters supported is a man who would never do any of what you just said. I mean, not even close.

BERNIE SANDERS: Right. But what that man named Donald Trump did do is he said, 'I feel your pain.'

I'm half serious, but what if there was no federal government?

One thing that worries me is that Glen Youngkin has no reason not to completely acquiesce to Trump's whims. He has a year left and is not up for reelection, so my sense is that he will simply do whatever Trump says

It's not just that my values are out of step with most US voters. It seems evident that I exist in a completely different ontology

What many people don’t realize is that global temperature records only reflect 1% of the total increase in the earth’s heat content.

89% of this heat is going into the ocean where it's contributing to rising sea levels, deadly marine heatwaves--and stronger & more rapidly intensifying hurricanes.
Global heating makes hurricanes like Helene twice as likely, data shows
Analysis shows Gulf’s heat that worsened Helene 200-500 times more likely because of human-caused global heating

It's one thing to say that you can live with having a non-fascist R as a cabinet member and defending the choice. Fundamentally R's of any stripe share almost none of my values.
