This is not evidence. And putting it into this thread comes across as painting an individual with no responsibility for anything listed in the image as being in favor of them, which is unfair.

I think my point is that I’ve never seen anything convincingly explain why a good healthy motivating enjoyable connection between humans requires any spirituality, that video included.

I’m glad it works for people in recovery and I understand why it works. Still curious why it’s not improved on.

Because both religion and spirituality more generally appear to rely on beliefs in unobservable mechanisms. Be that traveling to heaven in some way, or a psychological connection to the position of the planets, they seem to have equally low likelihoods.

I find that scientific literacy gives me comfort and trust in my own analysis and decisions. Practicing understanding things that can be verified gives me confidence to make decisions about things I can’t guarantee. I don’t need someone else to reassure me.

I’m sorry, I was just expressing disagreement with the distinction between organized religion and general spirituality. I think that’s only a waste of time if the people who hear it aren’t curious about other people’s perspectives.

What does “spiritual” mean to you? I suppose it could refer to psychological wellbeing but people always seem to use it to mean a connection to divine or supernatural mechanisms that they’ve been convinced govern the universe.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you’ve been convinced to sincerely believe anything supernatural by any source, you’ve been had.
