This idea is more or less exactly one I wrote about in 2013. I called it "the Sigma tax," after the Greek letter used to denote standard deviations (from whatever we decide the ideal pay-distribution curve is).

The more I want: for everyone around me to be comfortable too. Safe, healthy, and free to pursue their happiness.

A society like that would enrich me a lot more than some extra dollars would.

Tl;dr - They inevitably end up reinventing a lot of public systems and structures we already have via government.

(And would undoubtedly reinvent more if the event were more than a week each summer.)
