You can collect information with satellites and stealth drones. This is a public display. It is causing European nations to ramp up military spending, and become better prepared for potential Russian strikes. Are the Russians really that stupid?

My grandfather had a set of books with beautiful illustrations. One of them was Archaeopteryx perched on a branch in a lush jungle - probably not scientifically accurate... But it made an impression on young me, and I've loved that creature ever since. I wish I could find that picture again.
