More Atala #butterflies on the way! (Eumaeus atala) I counted 18 #caterpillars on one small coontie plant (Zamia integrifolia) this morning. It’s almost totally defoliated now, but that’s why I grow them. More leaves will come out before too long. 🌱 #MyGarden #Insects #Cycads

It’s not a Florida native orchid, but it and many others are growing on the tree.

I don’t think indigenous cultures used potter’s wheels until after they were introduced by Europeans, so this piece may be old, but not pre-Colombian.

We’re zone 10b here in the Fort Lauderdale area

Looks like it was thrown on a potter’s wheel to me.

Yes, and you can grow many beautiful flowers in WV that won’t grow in FL. 🙂

The beautiful berries and glossy leaves of the native wild coffee (Psychotria nervosa). The #birds and other #wildlife in #MyGarden usually avoid this #fruit. Most of it falls to the ground and re-seeds year after year. 🌱

This Cooper’s #Hawk was perched just a few feet away from me in our #plumeria #tree. We have several bird feeders in the tree, creating a veritable hawk cafeteria. The mourning doves seem to be their preferred prey. 🌱 #MyGarden #Birds #Birding #BackyardBirding

This #squirrel sure is enjoying the “bird” feeder attached to one of our windows. This feeder provides lots of entertainment for the cats. Our #mango tree is in the background. 🌱 #Animals #MyGarden #Wildlife

This 'Pumpkin Spice' #orchid is just in time for autumn. (Vanda Sonia Daccach 'Pumpkin Spice' (V.Fuchs Harvest Moon x V. Dhongchai Pusavat). It is a prolific bloomer. 🌱 #Flowers #MyGarden #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling #Orchids

This brilliant #orchid is a reliable annual bloomer, and always a stunner! It's an Epicattleya Volcano Trick hybrid (unknown cultivar). It has adapted well to its home in our #plumeria #tree. 🌱 #MyGarden #Flowers #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling

These are the first blooms on this #plumeria that I'm starting from a cutting. I'm not sure of the official cultivar, but locally it's called 'Key West Red.' It has a lovely cinnamon fragrance. 🌱 #MyGarden #Flowers #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling #Trees

This honeybee was working in the rain this morning on this pink passion flower(Passiflora foetida) native to south Texas. Its growth habit here in S FL seems to be less aggressive than in its native range. It’s a host plant for our native Gulf Fritillary butterflies. 🌱 #FlowerReport #BloomScrollomg
