A grieving professor went to the Arctic to forget, but the Nordlyset had other plans—it made him remember.

This atmospheric short story by @tammykomoff.bsky.social blends grief, wonder & the supernatural in a breathtaking tale of loss and transcendence.

Book 3 of 2026 is was recommended by actor/author Graham McTavish (he’s a book guy!) on Instagram. I loved his review and purchased it right away. I started it this morning. All of its rave reviews are accurate. Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton is an exquisite memoir, not to be missed by nature lovers!

Just in case anyone is wondering what the weather is like here…yesterday we had a blizzard all day (there was no snow before it started and 5C) and it was -16C with the windchill. It’s snowing again right now and it’s -10C. I am so over winter for the rest of my life! 🥶😵‍💫

Look! Books by the fabulous @almakatsu.bsky.social on the shelf at Indigo Books in Kingston, Ontario! I wish there were more, but it’s a start! 😊👍

My annual birthday book haul is always fun! These were my choices today, as I went to Indigo Books after being taken out to lunch by a dear friend. Tonight, my sister & I are going to see Is This Thing On? starring Will Arnett & Laura Dern. I’m having a great birthday! 🥰📚

Book 2 of 2026 is this classic, Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier—another book I’ve had on my shelves for almost 20 years! I’ve seen the movie, but it’s time to enjoy this incredible prose! 😊 I’m halfway through and can honestly say I’ve never read writing quite like it. Stunning!

Psst, I want to share something with you. After being on LinkedIn for at least 15 years, I finally had a post receive over 10,000 impressions! It kind of blows my mind. 🤯

I'm amazed that I'm in the top 10% of readers for 2025 on Goodreads! I actually read 52 books, but Goodreads sent me the promo package before that last book was recorded. I aim to read at least 50 books in 2026, too!

I'm in the top 15% for book reviewers on Goodreads. I think that's pretty cool. In fact, I'll have a new book review to share later this week. 😊

Today is #JRRTolkienDay! A master of fantasy, Tolkien was greatly influenced by his travels in Switzerland and its landscapes. This features heavily in Bilbo’s travels over the Misty Mountains in The Hobbit, which was released on September 21, 1937.

Today is #NationalScienceFictionDay, and while this is not a genre I read often, I will say that Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, and 1984 by George Orwell are my favourite science fiction novels. What are yours?

Tonight I've been sorting old digital photos. Fourteen years ago, I had a #DumboRat named Dublin, and he liked to drink my Guinness. He also liked eating yogurt, potato chips, and drinking water out of my dog's bowl. I've had many rats over the years, but Dublin was the smartest, and the best!

It's wonderful to see that my client Rakka Rakkappan's first book, a #nonfiction #selfhelp guide to the Path to Happiness has published on Amazon! This was the first time I edited a book from an audio recording transcript, which wasn't easy, but I'm proud of my work.

One of the best books I’ve read this year was The Last Witch by @cjcookebooks.bsky.social.

It’s an utterly perfect Gothic #historicalthriller that speaks powerfully to the patriarchal imprisonment women have faced across the centuries.

One of my favourite memories from 2025 was my trip to Toronto last January and the super fun evening I spent with you, Patrick @trickybacon.bsky.social, Irene & Dave! I miss you all. I hope I can get back soon! I’m going to try to bribe my nephew to drive & go to Ripley’s Aquarium. Would you go?
