"The political leaders who have emerged as a consequence of the new role of Negroes in the political life of America are men and women with a purely middle-class outlook."

Sociologist E. Franklin Frazier lived here with his wife Marie while teaching at Howard. He was born OTD in Baltimore in 1894.
A black and white photo of E. Franklin Frazier. He is wearing a suit and round glasses. He isn't smiling. A rowhouse painted blue. A dark SUV is parked on the street in front. There is a porch above the front door with a light green table and chairs.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

We really need to be thinking abt the current regime through the lens of the Second Klan, which helped to nationalize systems of Jim Crow state & vigilante violence & exploitation while creating an explicitly white nationalist immigration system. They even paraded down Pennsylvania Ave.

"Then, there's the term 'yal,' which derives from the Jamaican patois word 'gyal,' or girl. Puerto Ricans got an introduction to the word in the 1990s, when dancehall music and other Caribbean genres made their way onto the island."
The Classist History Behind Bad Bunny's 'Bichiyal'
When Bad Bunny released YHLQMDLG, he coined a new term: "bichiyal." It fuses two Puerto Rican slang words—"bicha" and "yal"—and illustrates reggaeton's complicated relationship with class and women.

A lot of Black students can’t afford to attend HBCUs… And taking out loans for a lifetime of debt doesn’t appeal to many. Not enough talk about these and other ideas/concerns IMO.
