This reminds me of the scientist and the flea joke. A scientist puts a flea on a table and says "Jump!". The flea jumps. The scientist then cuts the flea legs and says "Jump!". The flea doesn't jump. The scientist writes:"When the flea's legs are cut off it loses its hearing!"
