Today, Porto will be swept up in a wave of (controlled) madness: it’s São João’s festival. 
As darkness falls, the city will be heaving with people, and plastic hammers tapping the heads of people. Sardines, wine and the fireworks will keep the city awake and merry. It’s a midsummer celebration.

For this family of ducks, the Douro River is their pond, a place where they can paddle, preen, and simply be ducks. They are part of a larger community that includes geese and enjoy the freedom of living by the river, in Porto.
