The awkward position of wanting to buy a book collection for my shop, but not knowing what the State legislature will decide about my profession/livelihood this session.

No, I'm not kidding. There was a bill last session to charge booksellers with class D felonies for selling certain books to 15yos

Booksellers over here ordering one of the special editions of the hot new book, but worrying whether to order backups of a different special edition in case the first order is late or cancelled.

And none of the books might sell, since a big box store is getting its own exclusive special edition

Maybe the real risk was the people we met along the way.
“Well but people need to do their own risk assessment” no, we’re done with this too. If you see a person in a mask, or they’ve done their own risk assessment and you are a danger to their health. Be respectful and put on a damn mask.

Fascinating article about trust in "content creators" vs traditional media in digital format.

A key point not addressed: "bothsidesing". Traditional journalists appear to believe that this demonstrates objectivity, but imo it undermines credentials.

What really drives me batty about "Ask your doctor if alphabetol is right for you" is the assumption that your doctor gets to decide what's right for you.

"Ask your insurer..." would be more accurate.
