Julia Gardner has won the Litherland Council by-election for Labour.

Jack Colbert, of the Green Party, came in close send with only 110 votes between the parties.

This shows a significant change in the area, as the gap was 1400 votes in the last election.

A by-election is taking place today in Litherland ward, following the arrest and sentencing of ex-mayor and councillor Paul Tweed, 62, in May.

Tweed was charged earlier this month over the possession of extreme pornographic imagery, including that of children and animals.
