Finally got my hands on part two of The Power Broker on audio and it’s immediately excellent. Bobby Mo angering every democrat in New York. Chefs kiss.

My 5 and 9yos are playing pretend and the 5yo said “so what are we having for dinner?” And the 9yo replied “we just finished breakfast and you’re talking about dinner??” And I shouted, this is how I feel every minute of every day!!

💪💪💪 more of this!
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Not only that, but if you request a book your library doesn't have, they'll almost certainly be able to get it for you from one that does. We love to share! The library where I work sent out 43,000 items via interlibrary loan in 2024!
If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

Abortion, a morally-neutral health procedure, is having a particularly bad week in a long stretch of them. Send a little $$ to @ppfa.bsky.social in memory of Cecile Richards, or to your local abortion fund. Or even better, set up a recurring donation to keep the support going 💪🏻

Just finished Jason Reynolds’ warm, funny, sweet 24 seconds from now. Teenagers deserve more books like this, a direct descendent of Judy Blume who took teenagers and their love interests seriously.

always a good day when I get queen bee in the #spellingbee. Actually it has not been a good day-- I broke my garmin watch-- but this improved it.

The #xpncountdown was great but so was being here on Bluesky for it. There were the old school vibes of ten years ago and it made me so excited for more events over here!

My ballot, and their final rankings. What a fun (and sometimes random, and frequently Radiohead) ride this year’s #xpncountdown has been.

Well the story is the last of my songs to make the #xpncountdown. What a fun ride and excited to see what is 1 of the… 2 possibilities left??

Hey Ya remains the coolest song I’ve ever heard since the day I saw it premiere on trl but I will take it at number 4. #xpncountdown

I’m not particularly a fan of Adele but this song is an undeniable banger. #xpncountdown

The Rising is one of the best We’re alive, goddammit!! songs ever written #xpncountdown

I voted for the story as my Brandi song but hearing the joke makes me forget the rest of her songs all together. #xpncountdown

No lyric describes your 20s better than “you spend the first five years trying to get with the plan and the next five years trying to be with your friends again.” The orthodontist is playing don’t stop believing but I’m singing this 22 on #xpncountdown from lcd sound system to myself

Two things will reveal you as part of the micro generation that was deeply affected by the movie Garden State: an irrational fear of open dishwashers, and a belief that song 28 on the #xpncountdown will change your life.

Genuinely can't believe I scheduled my kid's appointment to get braces on during the last hour of the #xpncountdown. Can I secretly wear one earbud to listen as it wraps up?

My then-14yo sisters taught me a dance to MIA's paper planes when it came out and 16 years later I still do it every time I hear it, including right now at 36 on the #xpncountdown
December 12, 2024 at 8:38 PM
Just when you think there cannot possibly be any more radiohead left on #xpncountdown , they are back, with a song I've never even heard of! How is this song at 45 better than Love Story at like 400something!! Let's go back to the run of Gaga-Pharrell-Gorillaz
December 12, 2024 at 7:53 PM
I guess my biggest takeaway so far from #xpncountdown -- caveat that 7 of the songs I voted could be in the top 76 songs!!-- is that I just don't really have the same idea about music from the past 25 years as the listeners of 1 philadelphia (a place I don't live) radio station.
December 12, 2024 at 5:06 PM
When the amount of Radiohead you want to hear is zero, 15 songs on the #xpncountdown is like, 15 too many. And there are probably going to be more 🫠

Having a great time with this year's #xpncountdown but missing the Visit Lancaster commercials from last year. definitely less compelling ads this year.

People are talking about why they were famous on Twitter and I was not famous there, not even a little, but Barack Obama followed me and that is a thing I’d like to try to recreate. World leaders, I’m open to new followers 🙂

This is Jacques Offenbach and he has a great look. (Is the kind of thing that does numbers here?)
