Most Harvard graduates do not become Tom Cotton or Ted Cruz. Higher education cannot overcome bad character or instill morality where there is no empathy.

I understand your point but speaking as a former teacher and librarian, the point of teaching critical thinking skills and strategies is to provide kids with the tools to recognize lies and propaganda when they see/read/hear it. Our public schools have largely failed in this regard.

If you possess critical thinking skills, you don’t buy the propaganda in the first place.

The red “pro-life” states have the worst maternal AND infant mortality statistics in the United States. That’s because “pro-life” has nothing to do with valuing the lives of women. It’s only about controlling women, & letting us know we do not own our own bodies.

The truth does not always lie in the middle. I want to read the truth. I cannot abide the intellectual pretension of hiding the truth in (what the Times thinks) is clever word salad. And most importantly: the paper is abrogating its professional responsibility to educate the public.
