I'm not really sure how you made that leap. No one said they were out to get Xbox and I'm not out here defending a trillion dollar company. I'm just trying to offer insight into my viewing habits because I used to love all of Digital Foundry's coverage and I'd like to get back to that point.

We're getting off topic here. This was about views on Xbox focused videos decreasing. As someone who primarily plays games on that platform recent titles and thumbnails have pushed me away from their channel.

Again, the Series X version isn't just unproblematic. It's a great version of Silent Hill 2 with a performance mode that runs at a higher framerate than both PS5 and PS5 pro. James looking at the consoles like that wasn't necessary either.

For starters the Series X version is more than fine and they say as much in the video. It's a clickbait (ragebait?) title and that's already annoying. Now compare the thumbnail for the Xbox Reconfirmation to the one for the next video over with a similar topic but different platform focus.

No worries. I stopped watching isekai after seeing slavery apology in several popular titles, but was looking to get back into the genre. I'll do some digging into the source material after the watch party if any of the titles look interesting. Thanks for letting me know!

I can only speak to my experience, but it's been largely positive this gen. Sure Gamepass pricing went up but I've played 45 games this year alone and loved most of them. First party titles like Avowed, South of Midnight, Keeper and Outer Worlds 2 have quickly become some of my all time favorites.

I just don't see it that way. He was talking about the viewership on videos over the last year and I was offering insight as to why I (and maybe others) have stopped watching. The moves Xbox has made aren't what's affecting my viewing habits. The tone of their content is.

I can appreciate that read on it. Earlier in the generation I would even have agreed with it, but as Microsoft has shifted to an ecosystem first approach the tone has shifted. If they act like it's a chore to cover the platform then how can I trust they're being as thorough as they are with others?

That would be totally fine! I want to know when a port has issues but the tone of DF Xbox coverage varies from dismissive to hostile these days. Check out the transition from Switch to Series S coverage in the FF7 Remake video for a recent example. It just drives me away from their videos.

I can't speak for everyone, but the tone of Xbox coverage has led to me skipping out on videos I otherwise would have watched. If Switch or PS5 was your platform of choice and this is how it was covered would you click on the video?

Shuten Order feels like a game that was murdered by it's localization. Especially after 100 Line was such a success. Could someone at Square Enix point to that as an example or was it too small a project compared to something like a Final Fantasy?
