Reader, gamer, loves to work out, cook, putz around in the garden.
I really am enjoying Horizon Zero Dawn. I understand why it won GotY. Very novel concept, intriguing story, very likable main character, great art, great voice acting…I’ll be with this one for awhile. Can’t wait to see where it goes.

Finally decided to give Stranger Things a real try. We watched S1 a year ago and enjoyed it but it didn’t put a deep hook into us. I watched S 2 - 4 over the last 2 weeks and I’m 1 episode into S5. Only 1 comment right now - I’ll save a longer msg until I’ve finished (1 of 2)

Hoppin’ Johns cooked and consumed. I’ve done my part for a better 2026.

In this new year, continuing my tradition of making insta-blocking random guys posting shirtless workout pictures. I just don’t get it. Strength training shouldn’t be that big a deal to anyone. It just requires a minimum of self discipline.

Finally - FINALLY found my next game. Tried several. Fallout 4 - too bleak. KCD II - great game that I will eventually play - but complexity for complexity’s sake - it ready for that yet. Horizon Zero Dawn though - this I am LOVING. I’m in. Best part - two games for one with the 2nd installment.

I - for one - can think of no better way to start the New Year than to wake up and find out that Ohio State lost last night.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II - interesting so far - feels better than Fallout 4 - longest prelude in the history of computer gaming.

I have tried - very hard - to like Fallout 4 - put a fair # of hours in - and I think I have to conclude that it’s just not the game for me. There is nothing uplifting or inspiring associated with a daily slot across a post-nuclear war America. I think I’ll shut it down and go onto the next thing

Fallout 4 is the most intriguing game that I will never fall in love with - it’s a chore but one that I can’t pull myself away from.

I am enjoying Fallout 4 and will no doubt put many more hours into it. Having said that, it will always pale in comparison to Skyrim for me. There’s a heroic quality and a nobility to almost everything you do in Skyrim. Fallout 4 is nothing but ruin and desolation.

Changed the profile pic - guess I’ve decided to stay with Fallout 4 for awhile!!

This will sound silly to most but…as a general rule, I don’t play games where the weapons are larger than the character models. It just feels wrong to me.

So…after dipping my fingers into several games…I’ve started putting some real time into Fallout 4. Initial impressions - it’s one of the most entertaining gaming messes I’ve ever experienced.

Here’s a list of all the games that have either won or been nominated for Game of the Year since 2014 that I haven’t yet played. I have a fair bit of work still to do.

Still searching for my next game - played about 30 minutes of Blue Prince, The Last of Us & Death Stranding I. Enjoyed Blue Prince much more than I thought. Can tell that LoS & DS will both be great games that I WILL play. Still have to try Cyberpunk, Alan Wake, COE33 & Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Finally finished S4 of the Witcher - very disappointing. Liam Hemsworth is NO Henry Cavill, the acting overall was uninspired & the story line has become disjointed / disconnected (I understand why Cavill left). Of the 4 Seasons, this was the worst. Painful for me after truly superb Seasons 2 & 3.

Really enjoyed S1 of Fallout and finally got around to watching S2 E1 - very very strong start to a new season. Would highly recommend!!

Having a hard time picking the next game. Options are:

Last of Us I
Blue Prince
Cyberpunk 2077
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Alan Wake I
Ghost of Yotei

Would welcome suggestions / recommendations.

Ive had a lot more time to game this last year - both bc of retirement & the expanded accessibility provided by my PS5 and Portal - eternal thanks to my amazing wife for both her patience with a hobby that can be a little consuming and for gifting me all this new technology. It’s been a joyful time.

Pretty sure I hit the jackpot with my future son-in-law. Happy holidays.

I lied - one more on Mass Effect Legendary Edition - I think there are many who feel ME2 was the best in the franchise but for me - ME3 hands down. IMO - the franchise got stronger - the story better and more engaging - with each release. Amazing franchise that I’m very sorry to finish.

One more on Mass Effect Legendary Edition play - I maxed my war resources so I had the best outcome - but I was totally unprepared for the choice I was presented with at the end. Given all that happened over the course of 3 games, it was an easy one for me - extremely happy with the outcome!

Just rolled credits on Mass Effect 3 and WOW - what a brilliant ending. I never expected the choices I’d be faced with - nevertheless, I chose what felt right for my Shep and I’m very satisfied with the outcome. Short to long - I really am just blown away!! TYVM BioWare!!

I just don’t get this whole workout / flex photo thing - I don’t get the need to define yourself publicly this way. It’s great that you’re lifting but it’s not really any big deal - takes a minimum of self- discipline. It’s an auto-block for me.

I’ve spent the last few weeks playing through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition - I’m a completionist so generally take my time and experience everything a game has to offer - and I have enjoyed almost every minute - with the possible exception of the scanning mini-games. It’s been wonderful.
