The first patient has been signed up to a new clinical trial at Clatterbridge studying how different forms of radiotherapy affect oesophageal cancer.

The PROTIEUS trial compares photon and proton chemoradiation, followed by immunotherapy. #oncsky #cansky

Truth
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but if I’m looking at a guy who got fired a bunch of times because he was shit with money, kept getting hammered for breakfast and couldn’t keep his hands to himself, I’m fairly fucking sure the last question anyone should be asking him is, “Hey you… wanna run the Pentagon?”

Some positive news: ”Fewer people contracted HIV last year than at any point since the rise of the disease in the late 1980s”. This progress shows that the battle can be won - but there’s still much to do.

It’s the eve of the vote on assisted dying.

Everyone is united on one thing - that however MPs vote, UK palliative care is desperately underfunded.

It’s in your gift to change this, @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social

You could pledge meaningful action - funding - now.

The question is, WILL you?

Realised I don't want everything to be lost when I leave X - & here's a tweet I'd like to save for posterity.

7 years ago, curled up in bed with grief, I posted this & it went round the world, & the astounding response made me cry with gratitude.

Our magnificent, battered NHS.

I love you, Dad 💙
