My teenagers have been calling out their absent/checked out/shitty parents lately and I am so proud of them. They recognize that I'm not perfect and have my struggles, but they see and recognize that I'm trying my damnedest, for all of them, and I couldn't ask for anything more. 💜

I need a wife that's at least half as competent as I am, which really isn't a high bar, as I'm mostly useless from hand surgery and wearing a boot on my broken foot and stupid spine that doesn't like that it exists in this body. 😔

Today marks the last time I'm likely to play "Splat!" With a bunch of 5th graders and their adults. I'm glad I was able to go to parent day. No judgment, I've had to miss such things, but one kid really expected someone to show, who didn't, and it broke my heart.

It's one thing for your marriage counselor to identify your (then) partner to be TOXIC .... It's a whole other thing for your child's psychologist to identify them as a TOXIC influence.
And sadly it would do more harm than good to do much about it, other than teach the child to recognize it. 😔

Sometimes the three of them can tolerate being in the same room - the fact that it's only when I'm trying to get work done is beside the point.

My "makes you feel old" current realization: There are fully aged adults who weren't born, or even conceived when the towers fell.
Or maybe it's just dawning on me that my eldest can soon go to the liquor store for me.

Well, we got two walls cleared of wallpaper. Will do the other wall later this week, and finish the hallway, probably.
Then I'll just have two bathrooms still with layers of wallpaper to remove.... But not any time soon.
Must finish turning the dining room into a proper bedroom.

Though, I think my attitude about such things is why none of my kids, so far, bothered with it until after high school. 🤔
