I think the only answer is you need to pack the courts including the SC, pardon all the nonsense charges, then find a way to legally slam the door behind you, make it so that nobody can make use of those powers in the same way again. The number of times my trans friends have tried to explain to our greater friend group "no, what I want is to be IGNORED. I want to live my life and have NOBODY CARE THAT I'M TRANS. I would prefer that politicians and celebrities don't talk about me, and instead just give me rights."

This is what people don't get. You can have someone you know who is kind, moral. When they're a cop, they're a bastard. It's the job. I have several college friends who became cops. Most of them stopped being cops within 5 years because they didn't want to be a bastard and they knew they were.

I've really enjoyed the idea of fire. I'm a huge avatar fan so that has definitely helped me get past my general distaste for UB. I just wish it wasn't standard legal or something.

Watching that Devils game made me feel bad about my Canes finally getting back into the W column. He doesn't deserve that. I'm all for some boos to the other team, but if I see you booing your own colors? You're gettin hollered at.

How can anyone look at that man's stats and not put him in. Trocheck? Come on man. Also the Tkachuks shouldn't be on the team just because of their heinous vibes. It's a hard team to root for.

I've said this elsewhere but the second I saw he was an infantry marine with prior deployments I instantly thought "this guy has said/done some shit". I really hope he's able to prove through action that he's grown. But anyone who looked at even his prior employment shouldn't even be surprised.

Yeah. And it deserves to, it's not like he was 15 when he said those things. But I'm with you in that I'm more disappointed in how this affects things than I am surprised by the words.

To be clear, I'm not saying he deserves a pass like "this shouldn't even be a talking point". I'm glad he's being primaried and I hope someone better comes up. But someone who was in the Marine infantry for years, including a deployment, has without a doubt said heinous things. It's the culture.

IDK maybe it's my lived-experience bias but I'm not against voting for someone with a checkered past but also a record of action and advocacy that demonstrates changed views. If you disavowed every white dude veteran who did bad things you'd have... None left. Do people not know what Marines are?

I'm exactly the opposite! Could've been private, decided to be a fed instead because it seemed more stable and straightforward! What a fucking mistake!

Just Virginia? Half the laid off feds I know are moving to the midwest and south to find work. And I don't think they'll be forgetting who forced them to uproot their lives.
