Maybe they should not fall for the marketing of big tech cies and realise how basic practical, let's say old school skills are lacking... Even in the tech sector. Schools are creating better humans, they don't give jobs, society does. School is not a client - service relationship.

I found France and the UK to be the worst for it. Never had this issue in northern Europe. At least not with dire consequences.

Lots of churches in sedimentology too. Sometimes working in a place 30 years later and you are stepping on the toes of someone. Best was being blocked on a paper by a reviewer I didn't cite who worked 6000 km away on something vaguely similar. But hey Gondwana was a big family isn't it?

Iron concretions. What kind of other rocks were around? Sandstones by any chance?
I have seen similar formations in the desert within sandstones either from the water table leaching iron or iron from magmatic intrusions. They can form little marbles too.
