Dancers, cats, gay pride, people in country western boots. I start riding a unicorn, like, just... Everything that makes me ME! 🏳️‍🌈 | millennial | she/her
I'm sure none of that is new info for you, but I just really feel for you. That's so frustrating 😞

Oh oof. I admittedly don't know much about ME/CFS, but even with just a quick search, it seems pretty clear that exercise is actively unhelpful. Like I didn't even have to dig to find that. Even the NHS has it clearly on their ME/CFS page that GET is not recommended 😭

But it absolutely doesn't help. Just one more way in which the insurance and healthcare systems are problematic af

I think one of the things that is a HUGE barrier is that in primary care settings in the US, if someone has a BMI above the "healthy" range, adding the corresponding diagnosis code and a related intervention (e.g., lifestyle counseling) increases insurance reimbursement... Obvs not the only reason,

It's such a mind fuck when you can present them with all the evidence in the world that the weight-centric approach is both harmful & unsustainable, including research explaining various mechanisms the body uses to fight against weight loss, & they're still like BUT BUT BUT lose weight 🫠

Mary Lambert also collaborated with some others to compile a list of providers that have provided non-stigmatizing care.

Ugh this is so fair. It's so hard to find medical providers that can be trusted to provide quality, non-stigmatizing care 😞

In case you're interested, ASDAH has a directory for HAES providers that you can filter by provider type.

Turns out prescribing weight loss doesn't fix everything and isn't free of its own risks to health? And also makes patients less likely to seek both preventive medical care and care for things that are easily treatable at the time but left unchecked could hugely impact future health status?
January 8, 2026 at 9:12 PM
"but there are clear associations between BMI and health" like I'M SORRY WHAT HAPPENED TO CORRELATION ≠ CAUSATION?! Maybe those associations are at least partially because they don't actually appropriately assess patients, so the actual issue goes untreated with a prescription for weight loss?

UGH this stuff pisses me tf off. Doctors do SO MUCH HARM. It baffles me how many doctors don't even consider that they could simply provide the same testing and interventions for people based on their symptoms alone, regardless of their size. They miss so much when they pin everything on weight.

I'm realizing after typing all of my other comments that idk if I actually answered the essence of what you were asking 🤣 You are absolutely not the only one!

If you're concerned about it, would be worth talking to an eating disorder-informed dietitian who could explore it further with you.

If you get more headaches than usual, feel lightheaded/dizzy, more irritable or anxious, etc. on days with lower intake, it might be worth adjusting. Also if you have issues with blood sugar swings/insulin resistance, more consistent intake throughout the day & from day to day is generally helpful.
January 8, 2026 at 6:42 AM
It's not uncommon for peoples' food intake to fluctuate from day to day! Often if intake is lower than someone's general needs on one day, their body will adjust their cues the following day to bridge the gap. I think if it's a system that works well for you and feels good to you, it's probs fine.

you are not alone, my friend. it's 1:30 here and I still need to floss and brush teeth, finish skincare, and dry my hair 🫠

Okay I feel you with Bob's death. It was so upsetting. Sean Astin is just so good 😭

But even with the losses, the show is still so good!! And if nothing else, fascinating with all the connections to Taylor's work

Holy shit ok 😳

I don't think I started paying attention to any of her public relationships until like. 2021? I knew generally who she dated but none of the details. And my mind is always blown a bit when I learn little tidbits like this....

With no consideration for the collateral damage 😞

Ok it says there's a reply on my comment here but not letting me see it and never got the notification. But I came back to say I went and checked and I am wrong lol it's absolutely real

Something about the video is making me wonder if it's actually real or if it's edited or AI or something. Are we sure this is legit? (I could see this coming across as patronizing but I don't mean it that way!! I swear I am just curious and feeling a little suspicious about it)

I felt like I was losing my mind when so many people were loudly proclaiming that they weren't going to vote. I understand that neither option felt great, but what did they genuinely think abstaining from voting was going to do? How did they think it was going to play out?
January 3, 2026 at 11:25 PM
Ugh I'm sorry you're dealing with it too 😞 I wish I understood why people do this. Fireworks are pretty, but shouldn't we have the tech to create a light show that mimics them? And sync it with headphones for an immersive experience? Without disrupting other people and animals and the environment?
January 1, 2026 at 10:18 AM
Update: It's 2am and people are still doing fireworks. But now just intermittently, so as soon as you think you're in the clear to have a peaceful rest of your night, joke's on you (and your dog). I'm tired 😞
