Giuseppe Rinaldi 2013 #Langhe #Italy Austere, cherry fruit, tar, spice, smoke, florals, balsam and leather on the palate. Fit tannic spine and plenty of grip and force. A super classic Rinaldi wine. Could have been #Barolo as all from Ravera #Nebbiolo Drink or wait.

Burlotto Monvigliero 2014 and Barrale Fratelli 2014 Cannubi #Barolo #Italy Aromas of truffle, rose, star anise, truffle. Cherry and strawberry on palate with polished tannins and ripe acidity (1st #wine best) Similar but more muted in 2nd. #Nebbiolo

Marcarini Brunate 2006 and Brovia Villero 2008 #Barolo #Italy Two lighter years. Cassis and violets, some tar, a bit dusty. Tannins still present. Drink now, doubt it will improve, but Brovia preferred. #Nebbiolo #wine

La Spinetta Vursu Vignetto Camp 2004 #Barolo #Italy Very much in a newer style as opposed to rustic (explains why Spinetta has more Tre Bicchieri than any other). Raspberries, blueberries and blood orange dominate a rich #wine Tannins are rounded and drinking nicely now #Nebbiolo

Dry January, but did not want to miss out on this. After all, #Barolo #Nebbiolo is a dryish #wine, no? #Italy

Not a 1er cru, but Bruno Clair still does wonders with this #Vosne #Romanée #Burgundy #wine 2005 Lovely red and black cherries, good acidity, medium length. Good but could have more depth. In its drinking window. Cheers!

Château #Angelus 1995. Big, bold, overripe, a bit over extracted. Dark fruit bomb. Tastes like sweet blueberry/blackcurrants tart. A bit lacking in acidity/freshness. More of a #California #Napa #wine than #Bordeaux #SaintEmilion Shouldn’t like it, but love it. Drinks so easily.

Amazing #Bichot #Corton Charlemagne 2019 #wine. Honey candle wax, lemon, hazelnuts & smokiness on the nose. Very rich & profound. Long with depth. Very fine. Enjoy now, but can wait 5-10 years. Pairs well with this homemade black #truffle foie gras #torchon. #Burgundy #Chardonnay

Great #Chassagne #Montrachet 2019 from Au Pied du Mont Chauve paired with #tuna #tataki #Chardonnay #Burgundy #wine
December 29, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Checkmate Silent Bishop 2022 #Merlot from #Okanagan #wine is a blueberry blockbuster. Still closed and firm with tannic weight. This needs time but shows what this winery can do. Pairs well with #bavette and #lobster tails.

Double crap! #Chassagne #Montrachet 2019 from Latour is oxidized. Actually a combination of oxidative reduction and cardboard #cork taint. #Chardonnay #Burgundy Smith HL 2015 is very oxidized. Some would enjoy the profile, but this is #Bordeaux not #Jura All perfectly kept #wine

Typical #Chambolle Village with cherry, raspberry, strawberry notes. Very much #Pinot with violets and earth tones. Good acidity. Not much in the way of structure or length. A bit simple. I guess $100 doesn’t go far for #Burgundy #wine

1er cru Montée de Tonnerre from François Raveneau is better than most other grand cru #Chablis #wine Yellow citrus fruit, lemon curd, lemon oil, honey, limestone, seaspray. Rich and ripe, bright acidity, long generous finish. #Burgundy #Chardonnay (and oysters were good)

This Dönnhoff Felsenberg GG 2015 #Riesling shows a rich, elegant, fruity kerosene nose with ripe apples, peaches, lemon zest. The acidity is ripe with a long finish. More fruit than usual due to the warmer year. Can still age. #Germany #Nahe

This 2016 Blanc Fumé de #Pouilly is a great expression of #Sauvignon Blanc from #Loire Medium straw colour, nose of chamomile, lychee, white flowers, mandarin orange, and lemon. Flint and dry stone minerality drives this #wine that is in the sweet spot now.

Not overly impressed by these two from Bichot. #Chablis was a bit reductive and lacked depth and concentration for a 1er cru. #VosneRomanée had bright cherry fruit but lacked in mid palate and length. Disappointing for a 2005. #Burgundy #Chardonnay #Pinot

Nice Monday afternoon sipping #wine Girardin #Echezeaux 2005 Cherry, raspberry, red fruits, spices, quite elegant showing finesse. Not overly complex, but expressive. Good acidity. Now in the sweet spot. Not to be cellared longer. #Burgundy #Pinot

Proof you don’t have to spend a fortune on #wine. This 2nd wine from Château Labégorce in #Margaux from the great 2009 #vintage is drinking well now. Just don’t wait longer. #Medoc #Bordeaux

Lobster #ravioli and Quintarelli Rosso del Bepi 2005. Nice match. I shaved some #bottarga on the ravioli. Just made it better. I know it’s declassified #Amarone but this sure comes close. #Corvina #wine #Italy #Veneto

Lovely @Ch_Philipponnat 2008 Blanc de Noirs #Champagne Brut. Perfect expression of #Pinot Lemony, citrus with white stone fruit. Nice toastiness on nose and finish. Drinking beautifully now but can still keep. #wine

Proof that #Bordeaux 2010 is not ready to drink. Still purple, tannic and concentrated and… close Very good dark fruit of cassis, boysenberry, dark raspberry. Lovely oak that is integrated but this needs another 10-15 years. Great 2nd #wine from @ClarenceDillon_ #Pessac #Medoc

Someone tell me the Commanderie de #Bordeaux à Ottawa will not be having a fun evening of #wine tasting tonight. @Beausejour_hDL @ChateauSHL @ChampagneDevaux #SaintEmilion #Pessac #food See later menu from l’Orée du Bois #restaurant

This @Cos_dEstournel blanc 2016 is lovely. Notes of green apple, yellow fruit, peach, lemongrass and smoke. Good acidity. Quite long. The #Semillon adds a touch of roundness to the dominant #Sauvignon blanc. #Medoc #Bordeaux #wine

Bought this @ChateauPalmer 1995 EP for $65 and kept it cellared at 12C. Currently in its sweet spot. 12.5%ABV. Forest floor, truffle tertiary fragrance, wet tea leaves, dark chocolate red berries, cassis and cedar. Very elegant and delicate. #Bordeaux #Margaux #wine #Medoc

Pavillon Blanc 2016. Amazing nose. Honeysuckle, apricots, pear, green apple. This #wine is creamy and rich with oak. Ripe #Sauvignon blanc. Lively acidity, long lemony finish, some tropical accents. What the #Medoc offers as finest white #Bordeaux #Margaux
