Borderline Books collects books no longer needed by publishers, libraries, shops, authors and anyone with books. We then redistribute them to people with no access to books for one reason or another via schools, food banks, refuges, community groups and lots and lots to people in prison.
Happy birthday Borderline Books. 24 years ago today the first plans went on paper. We never dreamed that we'd be giving away so many free books. More than 25,000 so far this year. 38,600 in 2024. Big thanks to Sjaak van Rijn for believing it was a good idea

The recipe for borderline books is very simple. We would love to see the project duplicated in lots of places. If you promise that the books will always be free, you can use our logo, but please aim to reach people who genuinely can't get access to books. We can't damage authors and publishers!
