Lastly, Final Fantasy 7. I knew some parts about the lore going in but wasn’t expecting how much I would adore it. It’s still very much of its time but the story, setting, combat and soundtrack are all 10/10 - so much respect to the devs. My new hyperfixation, one of my all-time favourites. #ff7

Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The game I sunk the most time into this year. Really enjoyed the cast of characters, the combat was easy to pick up, and the monastery management was a good in-between. Some qualms here and there but had a really good time - gonna be playing more with the DLC in 2026!

Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The game I sunk the most time into this year. Really enjoyed the cast of characters, the combat was easy to pick up, and the monastery management was a good in-between. Some qualms here and there but had a really good time - gonna be playing more with the DLC in 2026!
Mario Kart World. Everyone’s only Switch 2 game for a while, and I’m glad they went for some bold ideas rather than another 8 Deluxe situation. Not all of those ideas land (not keen on the drive between tracks) but it’s a fun time with some great new series additions. Maybe not worth the price tho.

Mario Kart World. Everyone’s only Switch 2 game for a while, and I’m glad they went for some bold ideas rather than another 8 Deluxe situation. Not all of those ideas land (not keen on the drive between tracks) but it’s a fun time with some great new series additions. Maybe not worth the price tho.
Pokemon Legends Z-A. A Lumiose Mega hunt is a really cool idea and I love a lot of the new Mega designs. However, the concept could only go so far, and I came out at the end thinking Arceus was slightly better. The game suffers greatly from pacing issues and I didn’t vibe with the DLC at all.

Pokemon Legends Z-A. A Lumiose Mega hunt is a really cool idea and I love a lot of the new Mega designs. However, the concept could only go so far, and I came out at the end thinking Arceus was slightly better. The game suffers greatly from pacing issues and I didn’t vibe with the DLC at all.
OK, the first one – Metroid Prime 4. Having played Prime for the first time in 2024, I was hooked and was hyped for 4. Unfortunately, certain aspects of the game are a bit of a letdown. Having said that, would still recommend - it’s just a shame you can tell this was in development hell for so long.

OK, the first one – Metroid Prime 4. Having played Prime for the first time in 2024, I was hooked and was hyped for 4. Unfortunately, certain aspects of the game are a bit of a letdown. Having said that, would still recommend - it’s just a shame you can tell this was in development hell for so long.
Also another side note – after FOUR YEARS of picking this game up then putting it down again, I managed to finish FFX! Genuinely would recommend it as an entry point into the series as this was also my first, but I think the slow pacing was a huge drag for me. Amazing soundtrack and story though!

A quick side note first – the multiplayer side of things was carried by Marvel Rivals, Peak and Gmod. All really fun experiences in different ways but only really dedicated sessions with friends. No real motivation for me to continue playing but with a new PC maybe Marvel Rivals might pop up again.
